Sunset Advocacy Committee (SAC)
SEED created the Sunset Advocacy Committee in September 2008, and invited Sunset's PTA, SIPA, FIPA and GIPA to join the effort. SAC advocates for Sunset programs to maintain their quality level and budget. SAC has met with district and state authorities and state representatives to advocate for our programs. Marina Hernández, SEED VP, is currently participating in the District Budget Priority Parent Advisory Committee, which advises the Superintendent and his budget office on how to effectively address educational needs and priorities across the district in the face of decreasing public school budgets. Sunset parents have signed over 500 petitions that have been presented to Superintendent Carvalho in the past, and will need to continue to participate in the advocacy effort to maintain Sunset's quality programs.
